While attending the Kankakee Area Career Center, students have additional opportunities to expand their transferable skill set. These options help a prospective job candidate stand out in the crowd and become more employable.

National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)

NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, providing scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education. Students who reach benchmarks such as GPA, attendance, community service, and instructor recommendation apply to be accepted as a member.

SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a regional and national association serving high school students to prepare for career in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations. This association provides students an opportunity to put their skills to the test in competitive events.

Workplace Excellence

The Workplace Excellence series provides students a skillset to deliver what an employer looks for in today's workforce. Each module teaches from the employer's perspective, allowing students to develop practical skills to add to their technical and academic background.

Career Coaching

KACC career coaches are here to help and guide your career aspirations. Students that benefit from career coaching will graduate high school with a completed professional portfolio. Contents include resume, certifications, and other samples of work.

Student Internships

Student Internships provide high school seniors direct hands-on experience in the workforce. In partnership with local business and organizations, students can complete an internship experience to develop skills in their trade, work ethics, and develop a perspective of what it's like to work in their industry.
