Here are some supports for managing your learning from home. How to organize your time, how to prioritize your assignments, how to get your work done within the school day so that you can step away from the computer at 3:20.
Physical Space - It will be helpful to have a special spot where you always do your work -- table, desk, special corner of the floor. Keep any materials that you need (notebook, pen, calculator, folder) handy.
Digital Space - Keep your Google Drive organized with folders so that you can find things easily. Name all of your Google Docs so you can easily search for them. If you are in need of technology, reach out to AP.Negron@K497.org.
Look at due dates. Things due sooner should get more attention.
Is this a BIG assignment that needs a lot of thought? Or is this a small assignment I shouldn't worry too much about?
Make sure you are working a little bit each day or every-other day on big assignments, and that they are getting most of your brain activity. Small assignments can be done quickly to make room for bigger ones.
You can make schedules or lists to help you manage your work.
Make a Schedule Work on whatever your teacher assigned for the 25 minutes period that you have that class.
Spend your choice time (1:30 - 3:20) working on your larger projects, or catching up.
Set a Timer Use a timer to help you stick to your schedule. When time is up, move on to the next thing.
Breaks There are 5 minute breaks between class periods - breath, get a drink of water, go to the bathroom. You also have a lunch period, just like in regular school!
Use your break time to chill, have a snack, and don't stress about the work.
I don't understand the instructions? I can't find what I need! Ask your teacher. You can communicate with a teacher via e-mail, comments on Google Classroom, in Google Meets.
Don't be afraid to ask questions that will help you accomplish your tasks. If you don't understand -- someone else probably doesn't either.
Don't Sleep In It's helpful to keep as much of your regular routine as possible - wake up at the same time, make your bed, get dressed and eat breakfast before "coming to school." And go to bed at a reasonable hour.
Follow Your Daily Schedule Even though the periods are shorter, and you have choice time at the end of the day, stick to the schedule. This will help train your brain to be productive during work time, and help you relax during free time.

Here are strategies that some students are finding helpful:
Form a study group with a few friends who are in the same classes. Use this study group to get peer feedback on a summative, to go over what's due in each class, to make sure you understand directions for assignments, to study together for tests, and to connect with friends.
Go to teacher office hours. Get one on one time with teachers to get help on an assignment, get help with using google classroom, ask any questions you have, and/or just have some time with a teacher you miss.
Let some work go. Focus only on the assignments that matter most. Connect with your teacher to get advice on which assignments you can let go of.
Prioritize time for relaxing, connecting with friends and family, and doing things you enjoy. This is super helpful in lowering your stress level. It's hard to think clearly when we're stressed out.
Get a good night's sleep. It's hard to think clearly when we're tired.
