Welcome to French class!

My name is Adriana Morris and I am the French teacher at PACS.

I obtained my M.A. in linguistics/foreign applied languages (French and English) from the University of Warsaw, Poland. Prior to moving to the USA, I worked as a French/English language teacher with students of all ages, and as a translator and interpreter. During my university studies, I spent a year living, working and studying in France (Nancy II University, Nancy, Lorraine, France).

After moving to the United States, I completed my MBA at Temple University and spent 12 years working in the pharmaceutical industry conducting global marketing research studies. An important part of my profession was to travel to France to conduct interviews with French healthcare professionals and patients on a variety of medical topics. While it was a fun and challenging profession allowing me to travel extensively all over the world and apply my foreign language skills, I missed teaching.

In 2015 I completed my teaching certification at Holy Family University and began teaching at PACS in 2016. I teach all levels of French here and love it! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling and outdoor activities.

Why Study French?

Why study French?

French and English are the only languages taught in EVERY country on our planet and is spoken by more than 220 million people on all five continents. It is the second most learned language, after English.
French is the international language of cooking, fashion, theatre, the visual arts, dance and architecture.
French is both a working language and an official language of the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, NATO, the International Olympic Committee, the International Red Cross and international courts.
French is a good base for learning other languages, especially Romance languages (Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian) as well as English, since fifty percent of current English vocabulary is derived from French.
Learning French is the pleasure of learning a beautiful, rich, melodious language, often called the language of love. French is also an analytical language that structures thought and develops critical thinking, which is a valuable skill for discussions and negotiations.
