Other EdTech Tools

There are many wonderful education technology tools available to teachers! On this page I will just highlight a few that I think might be helpful for remote learning. I hope to see this page grow in the future. If you have a favorite EdTech tool feel free to submit it on the contact form.

Screencastify

Being able to record your screen and webcam is really important during distance learning. Screencastify is a Chrome extension that allows you to do just that! Please note that the free version limits your videos to a set time limit.

pEAR dECK

Pear Deck allows you to turn a slideshow into an interactive lesson. This is a fantastic way to ensure that all students are engaging with the lesson and for you to conduct formative assessments of student understanding. It can absolutely be used with just the free features (the premium features are fantastic though).

Read & Write

Read & Write is a wonderful Chrome extension that adds a toolbar that allows for highlighted text to be read aloud to students. The free version includes only the text-to-voice feature and the premium version has lots of other cool features.

Edpuzzle

EdPuzzle is a great tool for flipped classrooms. It allows you to create online lessons that center around videos. You can trim videos and make them interactive. This free tool is worth checking out!

Insert Learning

Insert Learning allows you to create an interactive lesson on any website by highlighting text, adding notes, or embedding question and content. This is a great tool for remote or blended learning!

FlipGrid

This is a video response tool! It is great for discussions and many other activities. It has gained a lot of popularity during distance learning because it is a fun and interactive way for students to talk about and discuss what they are learning.

Blogger

Blogger is another fantastic Google application. With Blogger students and teachers can create blogs. This is a great way to share student writing.

A fantastic website for free graphic design templates. I have had students use this website to create infographics, posters, and more.

Kahoot

You can create fun learning games or quizzes using Kahoot! A great way to engage students both in and out of the classroom!

Wevideo

Ok, so WeVideo is not a free program but it is my favorite so I have to share. My students have used WeVideo to create videos and podcasts about basically all subject matters! It is such a fun way to engage students in learning and give them dynamic technology skills.
