This is the headboard of the bed frame I found to use as the sides of the bench.

This is the other part of the bed frame I found to use as the back of the bench.

This is wood from an old playhouse I found to use as wood to put on the bench, which ended up being more of a decorative touch.

This is a box of wood from old drawers I decided I would pick through to use as the seat for the bench.

Here I am cutting the headboard in half so I have an arm rest for both sides of the bench.

Here I am cutting the decorative poles out of the frame because I did not need those for making the bench.

Here I am marking where to cut the leg of the headboard to make sure it is the right height for the side of the bench.

Here I am drilling holes to place nails in to attach the arm rests to the back of the bench.

This is what my bench looked like after the first day of working on it.

Here I am trimming the pieces of wood, which were the old drawers, to be the same length so they line up when they are placed on the bench as the seat.

Here I am routing the edges of the boards I cut for the seat so there was a nice rounded edge.

This is what the boards looked like after routing them and gives an idea of what they will look like as the seat.

Here I am staining the wood I am using for the seat.

Here I am painting the bench black.

Here I had taped the insides of the shelf to prevent getting black paint on the inside because I decided to paint the inside of the self white to make it pop.

This is what the bench looked like after being painted black and white.

Here I took the stained bench seats and put polyurethane on them to make them shiny.

Here I am going over the bench with a second coat of paint to make sure every part of the bench is painted. After letting this dry, I went back and put polyurethane on the bench as well to give it a shine.

Here I took some of the boards from the old playhouse and am attaching a few to the back of the bench as a decorative touch, and so the back of the bench is not so open.

Here I have attached the seats with a nail gun and am making sure all of the nails are flat into the wood so they do not stick out.

Here I am attaching another board from the playhouse to the front of the bench for a decorative touch.

This is what the back of the bench looked like after it was finished.

This is what the front of the bench looked like finished. I also placed some items in the shelf to stage the bench.

Finally, this is me sitting on the finished bench.
