Meet Your Counselor:

Dr. O. Powe

Dr. Ouida Powe joined our team as School Counselor for grades 6-12 in 2020. She earned her BA, MA, and EdS in education and school counseling from the University of Florida and her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of North Florida. Prior to joining our team, she was in the same role at Burley for three years. Earlier in her career, she served as the IB Counselor and Counseling Chair at Eastside High School in Gainesville, a well-decorated IB school at the time.

The years between her school counseling posts at Eastside and Burley were spent in postsecondary education where she worked to assist students and families with the college search, application, and matriculation processes—particularly students from low income or diverse backgrounds. Ouida was honored with the Presidential Excellence Award of University of North Florida for her efforts. After years of serving in various departments, she turned her attention to training Florida educators who served high school students before and during the transitions associated with postsecondary study.

Beyond the school halls, Dr. Powe enjoys spending time with her family. Her other hobbies include listening to podcasts, crafting, and refinishing furniture.
