Board Position Descriptions
Volunteer Coordinator - It's all about encouraging BWES community engagement! PTO wants to be sure that everyone in the Bobcat community knows about our news, fundraisers, and events. Also offer assistance with event planning and getting volunteers for PTO events. It takes only 30-45 minutes a week to create social media posts on Facebook/Instagram and maintain communication with school staff to promote events.
Secretary - Do you have a laptop? Do you have an hour and a half a month to volunteer? Become our next PTO Secretary! Attend the monthly meeting, take notes on what is said, then type those into meeting minutes (template provided). It’s a great opportunity to bring new ideas, give back, and be an active part of what is happening at Broadus Wood.
Treasurer - The PTO treasurer is the custodian of the PTO’s funds. Sounds exciting, right? I promise, it is. You get to help determine how our money is spent with our budget process, collect fundraising money, write checks for purchases and see how our money actually helps our school! You work with the teachers on how they spend their allocations, track income and spending, use Quickbooks online to make fun financial reports (ok, “fun” might be a stretch, but it’s super easy). If you like numbers, being organized, you are known for your attention to detail, this job is for you!
Vice President - The Vice President works in tandem with the President - ready to step in at a moment's notice! They are available to help the President with running meetings, planning events, and executing fundraisers. This position has a lot of flexibility and can play to your strengths - eager to improve something at the school, create more connections between families, make sure the PTO improves every year? This one's for you!
President - The President has the leadership to direct the team. The one with the master plan of goals and events for the PTO for the school year. Superb communication skills are utilized every week to keep the information flowing between school and families. Regular meetings and collaboration with the principal. The President also establishes the monthly PTO meeting agendas, sends out emails blasts, distributes flyers, helps plan fundraisers, and coordinates assemblies.
