THE SOUND OF MUSIC
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Tully Drama Department 2024
Dear audience,
It is my honor and privilege as a director to share with you our production of one of the most recognized and beloved musicals and films of all time, The Sound of Music. Set against the backdrop of Austria in the late 1930s, this story touches upon the rise of the Nazi regime and its impact on the von Trapp family and the world around them. While our production primarily celebrates the power of love, music, and family, we cannot ignore the historical context in which the narrative unfolds.
As you enjoy our rendition of this timeless classic, I encourage you to consider the relevance of its message in today's world. The Sound of Music reminds us that even in the face of adversity, the hills are alive with the sound of music, and the human heart can triumph over the darkest of times.
In times of darkness, music has the extraordinary ability to inspire hope, unity, and resilience. The Sound of Music and the songs within it serve as a reminder of the enduring power of the human spirit. Music has historically been a source of solace, resistance, and unity during tumultuous times, and our production aims to emphasize this role. We hope you find joy, inspiration, and a renewed appreciation for the power of music and love.
To our seniors, Lucas, Hannah, Luke, Lily, Eleanor, Sarah, Kae, Carina, and Ella: Words cannot express how grateful I am for your dedication and leadership over the last four years. Saying “so long, farewell” to this group is particularly hard. Your legacies will be strong here as you leave the beautiful hills of Tully. We can’t wait to see which mountains you climb next and rainbows you follow beyond these halls.
“Auf Wiedersehen!”
Kat Krumbach, Director
