8th Grade Life Science

Welcome to Mrs. Shaw's 8th Grade Life Science Page!

Class overview

Life Science is a course designed to develop an understanding of living organisms, like plants, animals, and human beings. This class allows students to explore the world of biology through research, labs, projects and class discussion. The assignments given in this class will develop the student’s ability to think critically; document, analyze and apply data effectively; and build study skills.

You will learn a range of topics and skills in Life Science including Scientific Method, cell structure and function, how to use a microscope, genetics, ecology, evolution, and human body systems. We will also review topics from 7th grade Science for the NYS Grade 8 Intermediate Level Science Exam toward the end of the year.
