Choice time

What is choice time?

In kindergarten, students have choice time to continue their learning through play. Choices are provided to help students get started with an idea.

Choice time

Play outside

Go for walk around the block or play outside (if a grown-up says it's okay!)

Read a book

Read with someone in your family, look at pictures in books, listen to a story

Build

Use anything you have at home to build (blocks, legos, cups)

Free draw/write

Draw a picture of yourself, your family, your favorite characters - whatever you like!

Dance

Get up and dance! Make up your own dance to your favorite songs or play freeze dance

Build a Fort

Make a fort using pillows or blankets or anything you grown up says is okay! It can make a fun place to read!

Draw with Chalk

Draw pictures, write words or even make your own hopscotch with chalk

Imaginary Play

Use your imagination to play! Some popular ideas are pretending to play family, be at a restaurant, or shop at a store. You don't need any special toys, you can create those too!

Bubbles

Blow bubbles outside! If you don't have any, click here for a recipe to make your own.

Shadow tracing

Trace the shadows of your favorite toys or your own body to create a picture! You can try this outside or inside with enough sunlight.

Scavenger Hunt

Create your own scavenger hunt (inside or outside)! Some ideas would be to look for colors, shapes, favorite things.

Animal play

Create an animal parade or build your own zoo. Sort your animals (or any toys) by color, size or shape!
