How can I prepare my child for Middle School?
There are many things you can do to help build confidence this summer!
Practice combination locks! Lockers are a BIG stress those first few days, and knowing how to work a combination lock makes a big difference.
Check out this site to help your student practice:
Help your child get organized. Encourage the use of a planner/calendar to keep track of assignments. Discuss how folders, binders and notebooks can be used to organize papers. Have your child get everything ready for the next day before going to bed.
Provide support. Change can be exciting and a little scary. If your student is feeling insecure about being in middle school, assure them that their peers are experiencing similar feelings. Be available to listen when your child wants to talk, and look for times when they are most likely to be open to conversation.
