Here is a list of frequently asked questions from parents and students. If you can't find the answer to your question, please contact any of the 8th grade teachers; we are happy to help!
Does my child have a textbook?
Math: Each student has their own workbook they can take home along with an ebook on Clever.
Science: Students have a workbook that serves as a textbook. They can bring this home for any assignments or to supplement their learning. Students also have online access to this at home. They can access HMH through Clever. Notes that are taken in class are in a spiral science notebook. A copy of the notes that are given in class is in Google Classroom for students who have missed anything in class.
ELA: Students can check out a copy of the English text book at any time. If it is a paperback book that we are reading, they can check out a paper copy (or read the PDF provided in the Google Classroom) for outside of the classroom reading or if they do not finish in class.
Social Studies: Students can access the online textbook through Clever. A student can check out a textbook if needed.
Where can I see my child's grades?
Go to the Meade School District website, click Infinite Campus, sign in, click the "grades" tab, to see each class's grades broken down, click into the class.
If you don't have a username or password, email jenna.whitman@k12.sd.us and she will set you up with your username and password.
What is your late work policy?
Late work can be turned in the day after it was due for a 10% reduction in the earned grade. Each day results in another 10% reduction up to 5 school days. Later than that is a zero in Infinite Campus.

If I have an issue or concern, what is the first step to resolving this issue?
The first step is to email or call your child's Advisory teacher to discuss your concerns. This teacher can help navigate what to do next.
If my child is absent, what can I do to keep them caught up on work?
Students should be logging on to Google Classroom. Assignments will be posted there with copies of the work, so students can stay caught up that way.
STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE for all missed work and are expected to make up things that were missed when absent.

The school policy is for phones to be away from "bell to bell." If you need to contact your child during the day, you may email him/her or call the school and have a message delivered.
