REMIND is a free, safe, and simple messaging tool that helps teachers share important updates and reminders with students and parents.  Subscribe by text, email or using the Remind app.  All personal information is kept private, which means that nobody (teachers included) can see anyone else's phone numbers.  You can also sign up for email updates if you wish.  This is a great way to get timely information out to participants and parents very quickly and easily.  Students chosen for the band will find a form in their music folder that fully explains how to sign up for REMIND, and will need to do so prior to the first rehearsal.  Please enroll each student, and also an adult who will be taking the student to and from the rehearsals.

Sioux Falls Middle Schools Band Students and Parents:

Popplers Music is offering a special opportunity for our young musicians.  On November 7, 2024, a select middle school concert band comprised of students from Sioux Falls Area Middle Schools will perform a concert at the Washington Pavilion with the Augustana University Wind Ensemble.

Because of the musicianship and dedication that you have demonstrated in your school's band program, your band director has recommended you for membership in this select group.

In order to participate, all students must:

   * Arrange transportation to and from rehearsals and the concert

   * Be willing to work hard

   * Have a positive attitude

   * Be able to play their part

   * Attend all rehearsals (on time) and the performance (see the schedule - separate page)

Students are placed in the band mainly upon their band director's recommendations.  As rehearsals progress, part adjustments may be made by Mr. Rygg.  Students will be expected to dress up for the performance.  This will be discussed at the first rehearsal and information made available to everyone as soon as possible.  The goal is to provide our community with an experience very similar to the SD Middle School All-State Band, and get students excited to audition for that event.

Before committing to this, students and parents must understand that there will be no allowance for schedule conflicts.  Students must be on time, and they must attend the entire rehearsal(s).  In order for this activity to be successful, this schedule must be a priority with all members of the group.  Any absence or excessive tardiness will most likely result in the student being removed from the ensemble.  Middle School activity/performance rules will be followed, however this is an "outside" activity that is being run in cooperation with the school district(s) and Popplers Music.  Students will be pushed to produce the highest musical level possible in a short amount of time.

Your director and Popplers Music hope you are able to take advantage of this tremendous opportunity!
