For students planning on attending a 4-year college, you will want to take the ACT. It is given 7 times a year on nationally scheduled test dates. A list of test sites is available on the ACT website. We suggest juniors in Algebra II or above take the ACT towards the end of their junior year. Seniors should take the September or October ACT if they haven't yet and plan to apply for scholarships. The ACT tests your English, math, reading, social studies, and natural science reasoning skills. Composite scores range from 1-36. The ACT also offers a written component for an additional charge, and it is recommended to check with your colleges to know whether the writing test is required. The ACT can be taken as many times as the student chooses. Colleges will use the student’s highest composite score or will superscore score your ACT attempts. Your ACT superscore is a generated composite score based on each of the highest achieved sub scores. Registration price for the full ACT is $68. ACT registration: www.act.org
JHS offers an ACT prep class with 25-26 dates TBD. Sign up forms will be available in the Counseling Office.
