INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO

Established in the 2014-2015 school year by the Tri-M Music Honor Society as a way to garner interest for the instrumental music program, the petting zoo is sponsored by Chapter 6441 and involves TF Riggs Band and GMMS Band members.  The event takes place during "Music in our Schools" month on an early release afternoon.  The afternoon includes a snack (donated by local businesses), game time, and the "zoo" portion.

During the "zoo" portion, there are six tables where students are led by band members on how to play each instrument and have the opportunity to play each instrument.  At the end of the afternoon, students pick their favorite instrument(s) and have the opportunity to start rental and sign up for beginning lessons right away.
