OLCSD Calendars

As we begin planning for the 2022-2023 school year, we would like your input on the calendar. Oglala Lakota County Schools traditionally have a 5-day week calendar. This year, we implemented early-out Wednesdays to provide time for teacher planning and some middle school activities. Training during the course of the year provides benefits for the teachers and staff but can create additional planning for families. We do have requirements for hours students must be in school and in any calendar we must ensure we are meeting or exceeding those requirements.

We are exploring some options between early out Wednesdays and early out Fridays as well as a 4 day week. Check out below a video comparing two of the calendars and the see all three calendars below.

This coming week, the schools will be surveying parents by giving you a call, surveying students at school, and surveying the staff. We will compile the data and see if we need to make any changes or host some community nights for more input.
