Maximum Velocity and Exclamation

Students are placed into one of two groups based on their audition scores. Our top show choir is called ‘Maximum Velocity’ and our second is called ‘Exclamation’. The size of each group is determined by the director. Maximum Velocity is directed by Mrs. Heeren and Mr. Caberos and Exclamation is directed by Mrs. Bruguier. Conflicts with Jazz band and Drum Line may arise but the directors will try their best to accommodate (we want you to be able to be in it all). 

Overview

Show choir at Mitchell Middle School is intended to give students experience in show choir rehearsal and performance. Our show choir program acts as a feeder program to ‘Friend de Coup’, the show choir at Mitchell High School. Students take part in a number of school-sponsored performances and area middle school competitions. Our program strives to give students a positive experience in show choir, to prepare them for future show choir activities, and complement our middle school vocal program as an extra-curricular activity. 

1. Students must be taking vocal music class as part of their middle school schedule. Students are expected to be contributing and leading members of their respective choirs. 

2. Students need to audition for show choir, this will evaluate prospective members in the area of voice quality/strength, movement, and ability to learn movement. 

3. Students must abide by all requirements of MMS academic and training rules.

Costumes

Costumes vary year to year and are provided by the school through fundraising (typically chocolate sales). Students will have the chance to buy show choir T-shirts at the beginning of the year.
