PLEASE remember WATER BOTTLES every day as we do not have drinking fountains, only bottle fillers. The school does not provide water bottles, students need to supply one from home, this is especially needed on those warm days.
Important Dates:
May 3-12 - Fastbridge testing - DONE!
May 16- Field Day (9-11 am, 1:30-3:15 pm) & for parents: Coffee with the Principal (8 am)
May 17- 5th Grade Band Concert (2:45 pm)
May 17 - PTA Meeting (4:10 pm)
May 18- Bike Rodeo during specials time (bring bikes and helmets to school!)
May 19- Last Day of school - 1:30 pm dismissal
Field Day: Please send your students in clothes appropriate for the weather and in a blue or white shirt (your students know their team color) and with a water bottle.
Last Day of School Party: Please bring a snack or drink to share with the class for our end of year party on May 19th. We will not be doing a sign up, just bring what you like - there are 21 students in each class. Please note that Ms. Loe's room is nut free.
Supplies coming home: On Wednesday, May 18th we will clean out lockers and desks. If you could send a bag in with your student to take home their supplies we would be grateful.
Library books: Please look for any school or classroom library books and return those as soon as possible. And always remember - better late than never! If you have any books at 2-8th grade level that you want to pass on, please consider donating them to your child's classroom library.
Summer Activities: Hot Springs summer recreation sign ups will be May 11th and 12th, for more information: https://hs-sd.org/recreation. Sign ups are in person at the Mueller Center May 11th and 12th.
Math: We are deepening work on volume, graphing coordinates, classifying polygons. Students can work from home on IXL at any time by logging in with their Clever badge or school email and password.
Reading & Writing: Our last unit is titled Chemical Matter and combines informational and literary work to explore 5th grade science standards on matter and some detective work. We hope students are reading 20 minutes every day at home from books they pick. Please take time each week to read to your child and have them read to you - even still in 5th grade.
PTA: The next PTA meeting is Tuesday, May 17th at 4:10pm. Keep sending in your Lynn's Dakotamart receipts!
