RECREATIONAL FITNESS

BASIC STRENGTH TRAINING & CONDITIONING

This course is designed for students with little experience in the weight room.
List the benefits of strength training; improve upper and lower body strength; develop a program to benefit individual needs; demonstrate proper lifting and spotting fundamentals; perform warm-up activities and complete individualized workout charts.
STRENGTH TRAINING & CONDITIONING I

Apply prior knowledge of weight training techniques and procedures.
This class will apply the concepts learned and knowledge gained in Basic Strength Training and Conditioning. Students will develop an individualized training program that meets their needs for individual sport or personal specific health goals. New training practices include plyometrics, cardio workouts, super setting, and learning about new fitness equipment will be taught. Students will learn where to locate appropriate online resources and understand how to perform “no equipment” fitness training. Students will be able to demonstrate proper and safe techniques of the different skills learned.
STRENGTH TRAINING & CONDITIONING II

Apply prior knowledge of weight training techniques and procedures.
This course will apply the concepts learned and knowledge gained in previous Strength Training and Conditioning courses. Students will continue to improve individual training principles. Students will learn about high intensity interval training (HITT) and body sculpting work. Other different training principles include how to understand burning calories, muscular strength, and endurance for personal goals.
STRENGTH TRAINING & CONDITIONING III

Length: One semester Prerequisite: Strength Training & Conditioning II
Students will be able to show the benefits of strength training through prior knowledge gained from Strength Training I & II; Students will continue to improve on upper and lower body strength as well as their cardio-fitness; A more in depth program will be developed to benefit individual needs; demonstrate proper lifting and spotting fundamentals; perform warm-up and cardio activities and complete individualized workout charts; apply prior knowledge of weight training techniques and procedures and maintain strength gains from Strength Training and Conditioning I & II courses. Strength Training III students will be introduced to local fitness facilities and the possibilities of continuing their fitness gained outside the school setting.
TEAM SPORTS

INTRAMURAL SPORTS

High intensity and competitive class for Juniors and Seniors. Apply terms and rules learned in Team Sports. Practice safety and procedures; enhance lifetime skills, practice personal fitness leading to an active healthy lifestyle through a more competitive arena: demonstrate good sportsmanship, fairness and decision making skills. Evaluation of personal fitness will be completed through the completion of the fitness-testing.
CARDIO FITNESS I

LIFETIME WELLNESS & YOGA

Students will learn the skills of various yoga techniques. Through this class, students will learn breathing techniques, basic to intermediate yoga, different equipment that can be used, as well as how to create a sequence. By the end of this class, students will be able to perform their own yoga sequences so they can continue incorporating yoga into their daily life.
TOTAL BODY WELLNESS

This class offers an extension/enhancement to our Lifetime Wellness and Yoga class. Target students would be those that are interested in nutrition and healthy eating, Tai Chi, Pilates, and low impact weight training using body bars resistant bands and TRX bands. A component of this course will include developing a personal/individualized fitness plan.
