Cherie and I are so proud of this group of girls. They have worked all season to continue to improve and build their routines. They were never satisfied and kept pushing forward. We came into state ranked 7th after a rough beam performance at regions, but we knew that we could do much better! Friday morning we filed into the Civic Arena to compete in the first of three pods. We started off a little low on vault but instead of letting disappointment set in, they battled back with some of the cleanest bar routines they have had all season. They continued this trend to the beam where they showed us just what they were capable of scoring when they put it all together. We finished on floor which has been our strength all season. Teams from the first two pods were not allowed to stay for any kind of awards after their pods due to COVID restrictions, so after competing our girls headed home to wait for results.

SDAA gymnastics committee ruled to change the medals from top 15 to top 10 this year, but we still brought home 5 individual medals from our team this year and a third place team plaque! It is a bit sad that we did not get to stand on the podium to get our awards, but we will use that to drive our ambitions for next year!
