HELLO! I'm Brenda Freund, your Library Technician
I was born in Trail, British Columbia, Canada, and attended school there through the 12th grade. I then attended a two year junior college in Rexburtg, Idaho, where I received my Associates Degree, then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders (Speech Therapy & Audiology) from BYU in Provo, Utah. Immediately after graduation, (literally the next day) I married my husband and soon thereafter started our family. I substitute taught for 10 years while our children were young. Later I attended Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe where I received my Teaching Certification in K-8th grade, then taught kindergarten for 15 years in Sparks, Nevada. My husband relocated to Pierre, SD in 2017 and one year later I retired and followed him. I assisted in the GMMS library for several years, and then for two years was the Math and Language Arts interventionist. It's good to be back in the library where I can help our students find that 'just right' book. I also have the privilege of teaching English Learners and have found I very much enjoy working with these students. I am the proud mother of three, and grandmother of two with a third grandbaby on the way. We can't wait for her to arrive! I have been married for 44 years. I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, reading, power walking, and cooking healthy meals. I'm looking forward to another great year in the GMMS library!
