SCHOLARSHIPS

Seniors at Flandreau High School are fortunate to have so many wonderful local scholarship opportunities available to them. There are also many state, national, and Native American resources outlined on our website. Applying for scholarships is not always fun, but it is worth it! If students approach scholarships with 'job' mindset, it makes applying for scholarships easier. If a student spends an hour on a scholarship application and wins a $500 scholarship, they got paid $500/hr! That's well worth the time!

Post Secondary

Today, more than ever, it is important to start planning for life after high school. Whether that plan entails college, military, or a career, I can help with that.
Financial Aid is a critical piece to the financial puzzle for students planning to continue their education. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on October 1st for seniors. I encourage students to do that as soon as they are able to maximize potential aid. But first, both the student and parent/guardian need to create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSAID).
The FHS College Checklist and Important Factors documents help students with the college selection process from exploring to enrolling!
Some students are extremely fortunate and know exactly what they want to do after high school. Others, though, are not so sure. There are numerous career inventory surveys out there to assist students with their post secondary plans. What are my strengths? What do I enjoy doing? If there is any sort of overlap between those two, students typically have some pretty good direction when exploring careers!
