The Circle of Champions Throws Camp is a storied throws camp that has helped produce some of the most successful high school throwers in the region.
FACILITIES: The camp will be held at the Yankton HS/Mount Marty Track & Field complex. It is a perfect facility to meet the needs of all throwers. Portable rings will be used to allow for an excellent coach-to-thrower ratio along with the opportunity for a lot of good throws!
INSTRUCTION: Basic fundamentals, drills, and training methods for the Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, and Hammer will be taught from the front of the ring to the back of the ring. All throwers will be taught on a progression-based format with immediate feedback and suggestions. We try to keep the ratio of instructor-to-camper at no more than a 5-to-1 ratio to enable each camper to have as many throws as possible each day.
CAMP HOURS: There will be 4 hours of instruction and technique work each day of camp. The morning session will run from 8:30 am to 12:45 pm.
NECESSITIES TO BRING: The following items are needed: Workout clothes, throwing shoes, inclement weather gear, sunscreen, water bottle, towels, notepad, and pencil. **One outdoor shotput and at least two discus implements.
ACCOMODATIONS: This is not a dorm or overnight camp. The Circle of Champions will not be responsible for campers before or after camp hours. Please make your own arrangements - Yankton has many hotels and campground options available.
