Each program has a set of criteria which are unique to the institutions, and the funds are awarded to accompany additional merit based funding a student might be awarded through state or discipline specific awards. The South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation takes pride in announcing the availability of scholarships to applicants whose parents are members of South Dakota Farmers Union. Eligible youth include high school seniors who will be freshmen at a post-secondary institution of higher learning and those currently in their freshman year of school at the post-secondary level.

Build Dakota Scholarship Program ( full-ride)

Students interested in pursuing technical institute training in a qualified program may apply for the scholarship through the Build Dakota Website, www.builddakotascholarships.com
Both in-state students and out-of-state students who demonstrate financial need are eligible for the scholarships.
The scholarships will support tuition, fees, books, tools and other required program expenses in the eligible technical institute programs.
Recipients of the scholarships will commit to living and working in the state, in their field of study, for three years following graduation.

Financial Aid Information must also be completed and in order to receive the scholarship each year, a form must be completed. Talk to your institution of study for more specific details!

GE- REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Program (Up to $40,000)
This national program awards scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home.
Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 per student.

CHS is offereing two scholarships for high school seniors -

DAR Specific Areas of Study Scholarships (up to $5,000)
Daughters of the American Revolution offers 26 scholarships for graduating high school seniors, and college and graduate students in specific areas of study. Applicants must be US citizens and attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the US.

*South Dakota State DAR Scholarship for Military Descendants ($500)
The South Dakota Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution offers this annual $500 scholarship to direct descendants of United States Military Veterans.
In order to be eligible, students must be receiving an accredited high school diploma or GED, plan to attend an institution of higher learning, be a resident of South Dakota, and be a direct descendant of a United States Military Veteran. This includes legally adopted descendants. The term "Veteran" refers to former and current members of the United States Armed Forces, including members of the National Guard.

a. A summary of extracurricular activities and scholastic achievements
b. Future Plans, including field of study desired and the colleges or universities applied to

Southeastern Electric Cooperative Scholarship ($500-$1,000)
This scholarship is designed to encourage and recognize the academic achievements of the children of rural electric cooperatives.
The applicant must be a child of a member/consumer of Southeastern Electric Cooperative. They also must be enrolling in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited, 2-year or 4-year college.

SDEA/NEA Scholarship
Ramia Boersma Scholarship ($750)
The South Dakota Education Association/NEA awards scholarships to outstanding students who are planning on entering the teaching profession and are high school seniors or college sophomores. The SDEA may annually award up to three $750 scholarships for each academic year.

Gordon Horgen Memorial Scholarship ($750)
The South Dakota Education Association/NEA is calling for applications for the Gordon Horgen Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded to Native American students who are planning to enter the teaching profession and are high school seniors or college sophomores. Recipients may be awarded up to two $750 scholarships for each academic year.

NIAAA Essay Scholarship
In accordance with National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s (NIAAA) purpose to promote, facilitate, and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of interscholastic athletics in the educational system, this scholarship program will foster and acknowledge the partnership between the NIAAA and secondary education. The scholarships will recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership, and citizenship attributes of high school student athletes, and the importance of high school athletics in each student’s life.

Applicant must have achieved at least two (2) of the following:
(A) minimum of B+ average;
(B) Ranked in the top 25% of class;
(C) ACT score of 24 or an SAT score of 1100 (Math, Reading and Writing)

Jack and Arlene DeVany Scholarship ($500)
The Jack and Arlene DeVany Scholarship Program is designed to encourage and recognize the achievements of the members or children of members of the Clay Rural Water System and to assist them in bettering themselves by obtaining a higher education.
Applicants must be a high school senior who is a member or the child of a member of Clay Rural Water System and is enrolling as full-time student in an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school.

South Dakota Farm Bureau Scholarship
This scholarship is to celebrate youth that have a passion for agriculture and their rural communities. We want to award scholarships to youth who are planning on returning to rural communties to work. Applicants can choose to be considered for an agriculture-focus or community-focus scholarship, depending on their major and/or experience with agriculture.
Schoalrship guidelines:
Applicant's parents must be a current member of South Dakota Farm Bureau and must have been a member for 2 years.
Must be accepted by a school of higher learning and planning to study a minimum of one year as a full-time student.
Must be 17 years of age or older.

Marine Corps Scholarship
Our scholarship application is open year-round for students pursuing career and technical education programs less than 12 months in length. Students can apply at https://www.mcsf.org/apply/. *Dakotah Bank Scholarship (up to $2,000)
Each Dakotah Bank market will award one $1,000 scholarship to a student that fits eligibility requirements and completes the application in its entirety. Dakotah Bank will choose the two highest scoring applications out of the submission pool to receive a $2,000 scholarship. These 2 winners are not eligible for the $1,000 location scholarship, another application from that location will be chosen.
To be eligible for a Dakotah Bank scholarship, you must meet all of the following criteria:

be attending a higher education institute in North Dakota, South Dakota, or Minnesota

The competitive $1,000 scholarships are awarded to seniors graduating from a South Dakota High School attending a public or private college, university, or technical school in South Dakota.
Preference will be given to applicants pursuing studies in history, political science, or water resources.

*Marion T. Wood Scholarship ($500)
This scholarship is sponsored annually by South Dakota Association of Educational Office Professionals. Applicants must meet the following criteria.
Applicant is pursuing further education in an educational office-related business program.
Applicant is a graduating high school senior or currently full-time in higher education.
Applicants must have completed four semesters of high school and/or college courses from among the following: computer classes, keyboarding/typing, shorthand/speed writing, marketing, business communications. (Courses may have been taken in high school, college, or a combination.)
Applicant is currently enrolled or will be a full-time student in higher education.
Applicant shall be responsible for the completion and return of all required materials.
Applicant must maintain a 2.8 GPA for the one-year period of the scholarship.

*Amy P. Todd Education Scholarship ($500)
This scholarship is open to seniors who will be entering their freshman year of college in the fall 2021 semester and pursuing no less than a bachelor's degree in early, elementary, or secondary education. Eligible students must have obtained a minimum GPA of 2.8.

*Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation
More than 50 different scholarship opportunities are available for students heading to college in the fall and many are open to students from outside the Sioux Falls area. Seniors can search, find out more information and complete applications through www.sfacf.org. Awards range from $250-$5,000.

*Perry & Doreen Evans Scholarship (up to $5,000 per year)
The Perry & Doreen Evans Scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to students pursuing post-secondary education. Preference shall be given to students residing in the Clark and Codington couties. However, all students are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship guidelines:
Student must be in their senior year of high school
Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Student must plan to attend a post-secondary vocational school, college, or university. Student chosen should reflect desire to achieve a post-secondary education.
Student will be chosen by a scholarship selection committee.

Bellator Titans MC Scholarship ($1,500)
The Bellator Titans Motorcycle Club is excited to announce the availability of a scholarship to an applicant who is in need of financial assistance. Applicants need to plan to attend an in-state post-secondary school in order to apply for the scholarship. Applicant does not need to be top of their class, but the committee is searching for students who are hardworking and motivated to succeed.

*SDACDE Memorial Scholarship ($500)
The South Dakota Association of Conservation District employees (SDACDE) set up the Memorial Scholarship. The SDACDE is offering three, $500 scholarships. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage those students concerned with conserving their natural resources by furthering their education in an agricultural related field. The scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior who will be attending a 4-year college or a vocational school.

The Grand Commandery Knights Templar of South Dakota will award several scholarships of $1,000 each year to South Dakota residents who plan to attend a state Technical Institute in South Dakota. *South Dakota Retailers Association Scholarship ($2,000 - $2,700)
SDRA's scholarship program is designed to encourage and support students studying for a career in retailing or a retail-related field, whether as an owner, manager, or employee. Many retail-related fields of study are eligible, including culinary arts, auto repair, diesel mechanics, pharmacy, tourism management, photography, business management, landscape design, HVAC and more.
To be eligible, applicant must enroll in a retail or retail-related course of study at a qualifying, accredited technical school, college, university, or certified professional training institute in the fall of 2019. Enrollment in an online degree program from a qualifying school is acceptable.
Applicant must have completed at least 24 credits from a qualifying college or university, or 12 credits from a qualifying tech school or certified professional training institute by September of 2019 to be eligible. We will consider full-time post-secondary work experience in lieu of the post-secondary education requirement.
High school seniors are not eligible unless they have sufficient post-secondary school credits. Documentation of these credits - such as a grade transcript - must be provided.
