ACT

- Where: Students often take the ACT at DSU (Dakota State University), but there are multiple locations to choose from.
- How: To register for the ACT, go to myact.org and create an account. Once an account has been created, you can register!
- ACT: Superscores - ACT announced in April 2021 that it will provide an automatically calculated ACT Superscore to all students who have taken the ACT test more than once from September 2016 to current day. A student must have scores from at least two test administrations in their MyACT account for ACT to calculate a superscore—the average of the four best subject scores (English, math, reading and science) across all ACT test events.
- *Starting spring of 2026, juniors will take the ACT for state testing.

Instructions:1. Students go to https://sdmylife.com/ and login.2. Once logged in, scroll down to where it says “Links and Resources.”3. Then select “Methodize.”4. Then select ACT.Once here, students can access lessons, practice tests, and other resources that will help them to prepare for the ACT.If you scroll down, you will find where it says Full-Length Tests, Evaluation Tests, Resources, and Vocabulary Builder. These are all resources to better help students practice and prepare for the ACT as well.

Where to test:

High school setting: Normed against students your age.
MEPS center in Sioux Falls: Normed against others up to age 25.
Better to take in high school setting vs. MEPS center. Once taken at MEPS in Sioux Falls, future tests must be taken at MEPS.

First 5 sections determine AFQT score:

General science.
Arithmetic reasoning.
Word knowledge.
Paragraph comprehension.
Mathematical knowledge.

Last 3 sections help with choosing military career.

Auto and shop information (11 min.).

Students do ASVAB Diagnostic 1: AFQT for core sections (Arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge) - "Jump to a Question" after 10 minutes of each section.
