Summer Supply Drive

Summer Supply Drive is a 100% Student-Led Service Project by four Leander High School Juniors! We would really appreciate it if you could donate supplies to our cause from May 3rd - May 21st! For possible donation items please look under the 'What's Needed?' tab to Leander High School, you can also donate touch-less through our online platforms, more information below!

Our Goal & a Little About Us 

We are four Leander High School students who want to make a difference in our community and aid those in need this summer through a large Summer Supply Drive. Through donations made by members of our community who are able to contribute, we would like to gather a sufficient amount of supplies to donate to the Austin Humanists Non-Profit Organization and to those in need on May 30th. This past year, COVID and many other unfortunate circumstances have negatively affected everyone, and especially those who were already struggling to establish stable homes and livelihoods. The purpose of this project is to give help to those who need it- through the value of community and kindness. See below for more!

About Austin Humanists at Work

Austin Humanists' mission is to uphold the values of humanism by assisting people in need in the Austin community. The organizations' main focus is to provide a short-term supply of basic living items at our monthly giveaways.

Austin Humanists are an inclusive bunch of everyday folks (humanists, agnostics, freethinkers, atheists, theists…) looking to give back to the community with “no strings attached”.  

"Regardless we all hold humanistic values and choose to give back to the community not because we want to advance a specific cause, not because we are a part of any movement, but because it’s the right thing to do.  Simply put, we believe human hands solve human problems.

We have two simple goals: give humanists a place they can come help their community with other like-minded individuals and allow people in need to receive assistance without any preaching or expectation of something in return for what they receive. We truly mean, “no strings attached”.

We strive to fulfill those goals through various community projects, the primary one being monthly giveaways, usually on the *third Sunday of every month where we distribute basic living items to people working through homelessness and limited means. In preparation for the giveaways, our volunteers collect, sort, and keep the items in their homes until the next event date. Because our group is 100% volunteer-based, the success of our giveaways depends on the community’s generous contributions."
