Even though this site is strictly made for my medical journey, I wanted to use this space to talk about some interesting things that I have done throughout my high school career that does not surround medicine. Enjoy!
CAS Project
CAS Project
One of the many requirements to obtain a diploma for the international bacclorate (IB) program is a CAS (creativty, activity, service) project. The best way to describe a CAS project is a community service event which will HAVE to take about a month of planning/ initiating and MUST follow the requirments of CAS. I am not going to list out the requirements and the specifics for what makes a CAS project a CAS project, so just know that its a type of community service event/ something that can leave an impact on our community.
For this CAS Project, me and my partner organized and created a book for Vanshika Trust (a school in India). The students that attend this school are poverty stricken, and cannot afford normal public schools. Vanskia Trust offers these children with a FREE education! We asked these students (grades 1-12) for short stories and drawings about what they hope to acheive in the future. We then collected all these works and organized them into an inspiring book. From this book we hope that people can get a brief inside look into the lives of these children and how poverty does not limit how big they can dream!
With this book, we also organized a community service project: Project Impecunious. This project focuses on the specific issue of bullying (whether that be cyber, verbal, or physical) and the negative biases that are targeted toward financially insecure students' intellectual ability along with untrue associations (in which the book will be used to promote both the school and our projects overall goal).

Vanshika Trust works with a mission to help those at the bottom of the pyramid uplift themselves from the vicious circle of poverty, and lead their lives with dignity. Most of the people living in rural areas and urban slums are caught in a vicious circle of poverty. They toil endlessly to make ends meet and generally their kids wile away their childhood playing among the rubble and dirt or end up as pick pockets, beggars or are forced into child labor. Education and seeking better opportunities in life is a far fetched thought for them. Most of the women end up as domestic labor or are exploited severely as home based workers. They have low self- esteem, no say in family matters and often face domestic violence.

As stated before, Project Impecunious's mission is focused on the specific issue of bullying (whether that be cyber, verbal, or physical) and the negative biases that are targeted toward financially insecure students' intellectual ability along with untrue associations.
The community outreach aspect of our prject is in-person presentations. During the course of a couple of weeks, we were able to come in and present to different classes during the school day.
