TVM0101-Video M FOUND CREATIVE MEDIA (Semester)
Foundations of Creative Media is an introductory course designed to inform students about careers in creative media, including digital design and digital film production. This Level 1 course serves as the foundation course for both the Digital Design and Film & Media Production programs of study. Upon completion of the course, a proficient student be able to explain what comprises the creative media industry sector, explain principles of digital design and its influences, demonstrate basic knowledge of digital camera and video equipment, and create a digital photo collection using design and equipment knowledge. A student will also be able to describe various occupations and outline the steps necessary to advance in specific careers. As part of a student’s program of study progression, the student will create a digital program of study portfolio, providing evidence of mastery of course standards and readiness to advance and complete the program of study.

The Grade 6 Exploratory Wheel Classes will be one quarter (9 weeks) and will focus on exploring basic digital media tools; including digital photography, framing a shot, compositions and elements of design that make a dynamic composition in photography and film, graphic design of infographics. In the Grade 6 Exploratory Wheel Classes students will explore prerequisite skills needed to participate in the art of filmmaking, broadcast, journalism, and learn how to become a positive social media influencer through the art of storytelling through a podcast, film and or TV broadcast.
All classes will focus on exploring your creative potential, problem solving, critical thinking and working in teams and individually using digital tools to communicate ideas effectively and ethically in a digital age.
