PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY
Ilima Intermediate School is dedicated to providing a quality education through a strong school-home partnership. We believe that parents and families are a child's first teachers, and their support is critical to student success. Our goal is to involve parents in every aspect of the Title I program to ensure all students can achieve their highest potential.
Joint Development: We collaboratively develop and revise our engagement policy with parents to meet the changing needs of our community.
Annual Title I Meeting: Held during the first quarter in the school cafeteria alongside our Open House, this meeting informs families of Title I requirements and their rights to be involved.
Flexible Opportunities: We host three Family Engagement Nights and six School Community Council (SCC) meetings annually.
Ongoing Input: Families can share feedback through SCC meetings, listening sessions, questionnaires, and Google Forms.
Academic Transparency: We provide timely information on curriculum and assessment data—including i-Ready, Panorama, and STRIVE-HI results—through our website and digital platforms.
School-Parent-Student Compact: This collaboratively developed agreement outlines how students, parents, and staff share the responsibility for academic achievement.
School Role: To provide high-quality curriculum and a supportive learning environment.
Parent Role: To support learning at home, participate in educational decisions, and maintain regular communication with teachers.
Communication: We prioritize two-way, meaningful communication through conferences, progress reports, and reasonable access to staff.
Parent Support: We offer assistance in understanding state standards and help families monitor student progress through Infinite Campus and Panorama.
Training: Family Nites provide practical strategies for literacy, math, and the ethical use of technology.
Staff Development: Teachers and administrators receive training on the value of parent contributions and strategies for partnering with families as equals.
Community Integration: We coordinate with local programs and host Resource Fairs to connect families with health services, libraries, and food benefits
Inclusive Communication: Information is provided in understandable formats. We translate flyers and communications into Filipino, and our website offers translations into multiple languages, including Samoan.
Full Participation: We ensure all meetings are held in accessible locations. Translators are available at all family engagement events to support families with limited English proficiency.
Annual Review: The policy is reviewed and adopted annually by stakeholders, including parents, faculty, staff, and students, to ensure it remains effective for the upcoming school year.
