FMP0100 INTRODUCTION TO POLYNESIAN MUSIC - YEAR 1
Students enrolled in Introduction to Polynesian Music perform as the Ewa Makai Hawaiian Ensemble. This course is open to students in all grade levels with little or no music background. Students in this course will study music theory, music history, performance skills, and ukulele performance technique.
Students in this course will perform in at least one concert per semester.
FMP0300 BEGINNING POLYNESIAN MUSIC - YEAR 2
Students enrolled in Beginning Polynesian Music perform as the Ewa Makai Hawaiian Ensemble. This course is open to students who have satisfactorily completed at least one year of Polynesian Music at the middle school level. Students will further explore concepts studied in Introduction to Polynesian Music. In addition, students will study a wider variety of music and deepen their knowledge of music theory and history concepts.
Students in this course will perform in at least one concert per semester.
Prerequisite: Instructor consent and possible audition required.
FMP0500 INTERMEDIATE POLYNESIAN MUSIC - YEAR 3
Students enrolled in Intermediate Polynesian Music perform as the Ewa Makai Hawaiian Ensemble.
This course is open to students who have satisfactorily completed at least two years of Polynesian Music at the middle school level. Students will further explore concepts studied in Beginning Polynesian Music. In addition, students will study a wider variety of music and deepen their knowledge of music theory and history concepts.
Students in this course will perform in at least one concert per semester.
