The Hawaii Department of Education (HIDOE) AI Toolkit is a hands-on guide crafted to support every Hawaii administrator – whether at a school, complex area, or state office site. In an era shaped by Artificial Intelligence, this toolkit helps you effectively and responsibly integrate AI into your site's operations and curriculum. The integration of AI, as guided by this toolkit, is intentionally aligned with the HIDOE's 2023–2029 Strategic Plan, supporting its overarching priorities for educational excellence and operational efficiency.
It provides:
Step-by-step guidance to assess your site's current AI landscape.
Practical resources and templates for site-specific AI guidelines.
Support for discussions on topics like academic creativity versus academic integrity as appropriate.
This toolkit aims to demystify AI, offering steps and resources to confidently navigate the future of education. All integration efforts within this toolkit are purposefully guided by the Nā Hopena A'o (HĀ) framework, ensuring that AI implementation fosters a strengthened sense of Belonging, Responsibility, Excellence, Aloha, Total Wellbeing, and Hawai'i (BREATH).
We've included a template and a completed sample to support you through this process.
