The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design is pleased to announce the upcoming Project Inspire course offerings for the Winter 2025!
Project Inspire is an online professional development credit program designed to support teachers with instructional best practices and pedagogy in computer science, educational technology and universal distance/blended learning.

Due to the intense course work, we highly recommend that enrolled teachers take no more than two (2) Project Inspire courses concurrently.
Your course instructor will address and clarify any additional course specific expectations, but please review the general course requirements and policies. Course specific objectives are outlined in Learnsoft.

Project Inspire: BootUp Elementary Computer Science Professional Development
This course will prepare elementary teachers to become confident and effective in coding by sharing computer science and computational thinking concepts, practices, and pedagogy aligned to the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) K-12 Computer Science standards. The course will focus on computer science-related interest-driven, project-based lesson plans for novice to more advanced teachers.

Project Inspire: Developing an Online PD Course
This course will focus on research-based practices for creating and delivering quality online Professional Development (PD). Participants will be guided in developing an online PD course based on innovative educational practices.
PREREQUISITE: Participants should have a minimum of 5 years experience in PK-12 teaching to understand instructional design and pedagogy.

Project Inspire: Digital Citizenship
The purpose of this course is to introduce participants to the Common Sense Media (CSM) Digital Citizenship curriculum. Participants will learn about the basic digital citizenship concepts and implementation strategies in their classroom/school.

Project Inspire: Increasing Literacy and Reading Opportunities with eBooks
Interested in implementing eBooks into your curriculum? Want to learn how eBooks support student learning and increase reading engagement? In this course, you will integrate eBooks in standards-based teaching and learning for K-12 students using the Sora eBook Collection. You will learn strategies for utilizing eBooks in your instruction as well as create lesson plans that incorporate eBooks to increase literacy and reading opportunities.

This is the third in a series of three courses to prepare teachers for online teaching. This course focuses on the effective use of multimedia, online tools, and digital resources for ethical and legal considerations in Educational Technology, enhanced engagement and collaboration, enhanced classroom community building, effective differentiation, and enhanced accessibility.
PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of the following courses:

Online Teaching Level 2: Effective Use of the Course Tools Found in a Robust Learning Management System

Project Inspire: Spreadsheets Made Simple: Using and Analyzing Data in the Classroom
Learn instructional practices utilizing spreadsheets that address the K-12 computer science “data and analysis” concept standards. Participants will learn the basic spreadsheet features to collect, store, analyze and present data visually.
