2025 Fall Footsteps to Transition Fair is coming Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 9am-1pm in Waimea!
Please join us for a day full of resources that help students with disabilities, and their families as we help to prepare them for life after high school. You’ll have the opportunity to speak with parent support groups, resources in planning for healthcare, education, and employment along with self-determination and advocacy.
There will be guest speakers, student spotlights, and activities for students as well.
Registration opens at 8:45am and we will be providing free lunch while supplies last, provided by one of our fabulous sponsors.

Children's Community Councils (CCCs) are local community groups dedicated to supporting students with disabilities and their families. The CCCs collaborate with schools, families, and community organizations to improve educational outcomes, provide resources and workshops, and elevate parent voices in systems improvement and policy development.
The SPIN Network has provided amazing support for parents and has created easy to understand infographics for many topics to support families.

Tourette Association of America provides information on Tourette syndrome and tic disorders in our community. The organization provides free information, free presentation to schools, law enforcement, medical practices. Informational materials are given to newly diagnosed parents, and parent support. Also provides zoom meeting on a wide variety of TS and comorbidities related topics both adults, children and teens.

The Honoka'a Hawks is a team with the East Hawai'i Special Olympics! Come and meet the athletes and their coaches!
Department of Health, Family Health Services, Children and Youth with Special Health Needs Branch, Specialty Support Program provides care coordination, social work, nutrition, and other services for children with special health care needs age 0-21 years with chronic medical conditions. We can also help youth and young adults, ages 12-21 years old, and their families to prepare for transition to adult health care.
HFAA provides authentic, non judgmental parent peer support to parents/caregivers with children who have challenges/diagnoses. We are also parents of children with challenges, so we understand the journey.

Boys to Men Mentoring of Hawai'i is a group mentoring program for middle and high school boys.
Emergent Learning Centers provide individualized, evidence-based interventions for children and youth in Hawai‘i who require a higher level of support. Our approach is rooted in applied behavior analysis (ABA) while incorporating relational frame theory (RFT) to enhance cognitive flexibility and problem solving, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to support emotional regulation and value driven behaviors. Our services include one-on-one intervention focusing on skill acquisition, communication, and daily living, as well as group-based learning to foster socialization and interactive skill-building. We also offer consultation services for families, educators, and community providers to ensure consistency across learning environments. With support available in our dedicated treatment centers, in-home settings, and schools, we strive to provide meaningful interventions that respect the values of the local community while equipping children with the skills needed to lead fulfilling lives.

ATRC provides information and referral regarding assistive technology and where to purchase devices. Has a loan library of devices for individuals with disabilities. Offers training and equipment demonstration related to assistive devices for consumers, their families, and members of the community.

CHADD of Hawai'i provides education and support for children, adults, and families impacted by ADHD.

Kohala High School will be there to highlight their school and the opportunities students have to enrich learning and their transition into adulthood.
Hilopa‘a is your one-stop for information and referral, technical assistance and training. This Center is staffed by parents and friends of children with special health care needs. We provide free, confidential assistance to families and self advocates and the professionals who serve them.
The West Hawai'i Peer Mentor students will be on hand to provide information on preparing for post high school.
LDAH is the Parent Training & information Center for Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. We provide information and referral, mentoring and advocacy, education and training to parents and family member of children with disabilities as well as the professionals who serve them. Our goal is to ensure all children with disabilities receive a proper public education.

The Comprehensive Service Center (CSC) is a one-stop support and referral service funded by the Hawai‘i State Legislature and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation through a contract with the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa Center on Disability Studies (CDS).
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, accessible services that address the diverse needs of individuals with hearing loss, their families, and the broader community. Through a range of programs and events, including academic offerings, workshops, peer support groups, and accessibility initiatives, we create an environment where every individual is valued, respected, and encouraged to participate fully.
The Hawai‘i & Pacific Deaf-Blind Project provides technical assistance to children and youth who are deaf-blind, birth through 21 years of age, and to their families and service providers here in Hawai‘i and outlying Pacific Island nations/jurisdictions of American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia (Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk, and Yap), Guam,Republic of Palau and Republic of the Marshall Islands.Technical assistance may include:
in-home consultation,

family support,
networking,

bi-annual statewide trainings,
referrals to other agencies,

Services may be requested by families of children and youth with deaf-blindness, school personnel, and agencies providing services to children and youth with deaf-blindness.

The Hawaii County Mass Transit Agency will be providing resources to support our students in the area of transportation.
Hawaii WIPA (Work Incentives Planning and Assistance) provides in-depth counseling about the effect of work on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and other disability benefits. The goal of WIPA is to help beneficiaries make informed choices and have a successful transition to self-sufficiency.
