The Seal of Biliteracy is an honor for high school graduates who can speak and write in more than one language. Honorees wear a medal at graduation, receive a certificate, and the honor is listed on your transcript. Many colleges will award world language credit if you have earned the Seal. It also looks great on your resume.
You can earn the Seal of Biliteracy by showing an intermediate level of proficiency in a language other than English. Our school is #1 in the state for the Seal of Biliteracy and hopefully the class of 2025 will beat the record of 104 Seal of Biliteracy students, set by the class of 2023.
There are dozens of languages. You don't need to be in a world language class to apply. Here are some of the most-common languages, refer to the attached list for more: ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, Bicol, Bisaya, Cantonese, Cebuano, Chuukese, Ilokano, Ilonggo, Japanese, Kapampangan, Kankanaey, Korean, Kosraean, Mandarin, Marshallese, Pangasinan, Pohnpeian, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog, Tongan, Vietnamese, Yapese, and American Sign Language.
You can apply at the attached link. Refer to the application guide and video to help you complete the application correctly. If you have questions about the Seal of Biliteracy, you can see Smith sensei in room Q204 or Mr. Brown in room V200.
Application Deadline: November 8 at 3pm
