Aloha!
My name is Kylie Otsuka and I am excited to be a student teacher at Hahaione Elementary School. I am born and raised here in O'ahu and I am currently a Senior at University of Hawai'i at Manoa majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education. This semester I will be mentored by Miss Evans as I learn ways to best support the students. I will be in the classroom once a week for the first half of the semester and 4 days a week for the second half of the semester.
My goal after graduating is to get my Masters Degree in Communication and Science Disorders to later become a Speech Therapist for elementary students. My background in working with elementary students consists of 2 semesters of student teaching with the UH Manoa program, volunteering/working in Elementary classrooms since I was in 6th grade, volunteering at Tripler Army Medical Center where I shadow a Speech Therapist who works with Elementary Students, working as an after school supervisor at Mid-Pacific Elementary, and I am currently a tutor at Tutor Doctor Hawaii.
I am from Hawaii Kai and graduated from Mid-Pacific in 2020. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, dancing hula, hip-hop, and contemporary, and sewing. I have a dog named Charlie and a cat named Hobbes (like the comic Calvin and Hobbes).
Feel free to contact me at kylieso@hawaii.edu
I am looking forward to learning and working with the students in F2a as well as with Miss Evans.
Mahalo,
Kylie Otsuka
