Welcome to Mililani Uka's Library page!

This week's video is our last Read-Aloud with Mrs. Shaw!

Have a wonderful summer, and remember to read!

Check out Mrs. Shaw's latest Read-Aloud video below!

Then scroll down to see submitted photos, as well as previous drawings, photos, and Read-Alouds.

Remember what Author Kobi Yamada writes, "Every problem has an opportunity for something good. You just have to look for it."

You can find the good in your problems by making an Opportunity Flower using the template above or your own flower design. Write your "problem" in the center of the flower, and then write your "opportunities" in the petals.

Make your own postcards!

Think about the funny things that may have happened to your crayons, and write postcards from them.

Have your child think about sea creatures that can be found in the ocean during low tide here in Hawaii. Then click on the link to hear Mrs. Shaw read, "I Am a Creature of the Tides: What Am I?", and see if you and your child can guess the correct sea creature!

Make your own animal (or other category) guessing book using the template or your own paper. When writing your clues, think about the animal's characteristics (i.e. its color, number of legs, how it moves, what it eats, etc.).

Submit Photos

This week, send in photos of you exploring the ocean. Perhaps you have found sea creatures at the tide pools at Shark's Cove, or you have swum in the ocean or played on the sand. Please email your photos to Mrs. Shaw (Cynthia.Shaw@k12.hi.us), and they will be displayed here on our Library portal page.

Mrs. Shaw found a Ha'ue'ue (sea urchin) in the tide pools at Shark's Cove.

Draw your own imaginary friend using the template or your own blank paper. You may also draw a picture of a real friend. Real or imaginary, friends are important! Please email Mrs. Shaw a photo or scanned copy of your drawing to be displayed here on our Library page. Be creative and have fun!

April is National Poetry Month, so please email Mrs. Shaw your Mighty Egret poems to be displayed here on our Library page! Funny poems, sad poems, rhyming poems, animal poems, any kind of poem will do! Click the link for poetry ideas to get you started.

You may print out any of the drawing pages above (or use your own blank paper) for your child to color. Have your child use his or her imagination to determine what a page in this book would look like if it had a picture. If you are interested, you may email a photo or scanned copy of your child's drawing to Mrs. Shaw, and it will be displayed on this page. Please remember this page is public, so you do not need to have your child's name on the drawing.

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Shaw.
