Freshman Academy

What is the Freshman Academy?

The Freshman Academy is made up of 9th grade students who share common teachers for the subject areas of: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and PE. The intent of the academy is to personalize the high school experience through its own discipline plan, academic interventions, social activities, and other extracurricular activities in addition to the activities of the larger school. 

All of this is done with the following goals in mind:

1.  Successfully transition students from 8th to 9th grade.

2.  Ensure all students are promoted on time & prepared for the next grade level.

3.  Provide all students with a sense of belonging at Mckinley High School.

4.  All students understand and aspire towards Tiger PRIDE values.
