Kaʻū-Keaʻau-Pāhoa Complex Area School Social Workers Mission:
The School Social Work Program in the Kaʻū-Keaʻau-Pāhoa complex area would like to improve connecting the school, including school staff and administrators to the home environment and our community providers; to partner with school personnel at the school level and personnel at the district level to enhance and improve service delivery to increase outcomes of the whole child across multiple environments, within appropriate capacities of the overall mission of the Department of Education.

Ka'u-Kea'au-Pahoa students are educated and socially and emotionally prepared to contribute positively to our community and society.
Kaʻū-Keaʻau-Pāhoa Complex Area School Social Worker Program Goal:
School Social Work (SSW) will work as a part of the state, complex area, school and community teams to:
Targets: Students, families, teachers, school professional staff, school support staff, and other appropriate individuals
· Enhance inter-agency collaboration
o Provide case management services to students that are referred by school staff via referral form.
o Participating in team meetings with school staff, families and multi-agency, networking to ensure sharing of appropriate information that may impact student achievement
o Home visits
o Peer Review
o Attend court hearings (as required by joinders)
o Community agency meetings
o Ensure communication and collaboration between school and community agencies are fluid and efficient.
o Consultation to outside agencies regarding Department of Education of polices and procedures.
Partnering with School and District Personnel
· Enhance student outcomes
o Conduct Adaptive Assessments as appropriate
o Provide supports as appropriate in the MTSS/RTI-B, DBW tier system
o Link and liaison between the school and external community providers
o Attend internal meetings ie. IEP/504 meetings, PRT, Core, Peer Review, Parent Conferences, counseling meetings, PLC, team meetings, SFT and eligibility as appropriate
o Home visits
o Family strengthening and engagement to increase parents understanding of the educational system, polices and standards and to increase their involvement in their child’s education.
o Attend trainings that are pertinent to student well being.
o Provide consultation to school personnel/staff ie crisis situations
