What's Happening In A.V.I.D.?

Congratulations to the some of the AVID Seniors who were accepted to University of Hawaii-West Oahu and/or Chaminade University. Thank you to Mrs. Amy Fairhart (UH-West Oahu) and Ms. Dior-Ashton Teodosio (Chaminade University) for visiting our classroom to host on-site interview days! Go Owls! Go Silverswords!

Have you heard of Johnson and Wales University? Yes? No? If you have not, you'll definitely want to do some research about this school. JWU offers a wide variety of majors and programs, including Culinary, Business, Engineering, Justice and Law and many more. If you're the type of student who has no idea what they'd like to do in the future, this is the school for you! Ms. Stephanie Azarcon returned to campus today to share about her own experience as a JWU student and why students should consider this school. For more information, visit https://www.jwu.edu/

Ms. Noelle Clark, Admissions Representative from Colorado State University @ Pueblo made a return appearance to the AVID classroom to share new and exciting information about this CSU campus. This Western Undergraduate Exchange participant campus is so affordable that their tuition may be less expensive than University of Hawaii at Manoa's after the WUE discount and a merit scholarship. If you're looking for a campus that not only has a wide variety of majors to choose from but also has a plethora of outdoor activities to choose from, then CSU-Pueblo might be the perfect choice for you. Find out more about this CSU school at https://www.csupueblo.edu

For the first time ever, we welcomed Ms. Vanessa Gonsalves, Admissions Counselor from Humboldt State University. Even though HSU is one of the smaller California State University schools, that doesn't mean they don't have a lot to offer. No, quite the opposite. Two of their most popular programs are Social Justice and Natural Resources/Sciences. HSU also focuses on educating students about sustainability and to combat excess waste on campus, they've banned all plastic bottles. Humboldt State University may be an unconventional choice for Hawaii students, but you can't beat their price. Their school offers automatic WUE discounts for tuition, reducing the price to only $10,000. Yes, that's less than University of Hawaii-Manoa. If you'd like to learn more about Humboldt State University, visit their website at https://www.humboldt.edu
