Advanced Placement is a program that allows students to take college-level courses while in high school. AP gives students an opportunity to earn credit, advanced placement, or both for college. Research consistently shows that AP students are better prepared for college than students who don’t take AP, regardless of their exam score. They’re more likely to enroll and stay in college, do well in their classes, and graduate in four years.

Four reasons to take your first AP course:
Stand Out to Colleges: Taking any number of AP courses, no matter your AP Exam score, shows colleges you’re serious about your education and willing to challenge yourself.
Boost your GPA and chances of graduating on time: Research shows taking even one AP course can improve students’ first-year college GPA and chances of graduating in four years.
Save Money: Earning three credit hours—the equivalent of one AP course and exam—can save you thousands of dollars in college.[1]
Make Time to Focus on Your Interests: If you earn advanced placement from your AP exam score, you can skip introductory courses and have more time to take courses that interest you.

The AP exam fee is $98 per course (multiply the number of course/s by $98). For AP Seminar the cost is $146. Please be aware that the cost is subject to change and it is set forth by College Board. Students discuss the cost with your parents prior to registering for your course/s, as it is costly and you are REQUIRED to take the exam at the end of the school year. Click HERE to access the site for additional information.
In addition, please be aware that if your child does NOT make the deadline for payment their AP designation will be removed and the course will be changed to a similar non-AP course. Please note that your child may be placed in a course they already received credit for (refer to the MOA for additional information).
If you score a 3 or higher on your AP exam you may be eligible to receive college credit and/or placement. Every university/college is different, so visit the link to access the AP Credit Policy Search.
