Meet Kumu Bello

Aloha!

I am so excited to be here as your new principal! Kea'au Elementary is where my educational journey started as a student teacher over 25 years ago. So much has happened in my life since then but it's so nice to come full circle... Over the years I've been a special education teacher at Kea'au Elementary & Middle School, a special education district resource teacher at the Ka'u-Kea'au-Pahoa Complex Area off, and a vice-principal at Mountain View Elementary, Ka'u High & Pahala Elementary and Kea'au Elementary. I was then blessed with the amazing opportunity to serve as Po'o Kumu (Principal) of Keaukaha Elementary School for the past 7 1/2 years on Hawaiian Homestead Lands and what a beautiful school and community it is! And now, I serve you, Kea'au Elementary School, again - only this time, not as a teacher, not as a vice-principal, but as your Po'o Kumu and I am so honored to have this opportunity! On a more personal note, I was born and raised in Hilo and I am a graduate of Waiakea High School, class of 1990. I am the wife of a 1990 Hilo High alumni, Mason Bello, for almost 30 years and we are the proud parents of two amazing human beings - Kanisha and Micah Bello. In closing, I look forward to all the work we will do in the coming years as we "SOAR TOGETHER INTO THE FUTURE!"
