How do I earn the credit for PTP?
Starting with the school year, the grade “S” or “U” for the PTP class will appear on the Kapolei High School report card for all students. However, the credit for this class will be awarded at the end of first semester of the student’s senior year starting with the Class of 2010.
This credit is mandatory for graduation, it started with the Class of 2010. If a senior student does not earn the .5 credit during the first semester of senior year, a credit recovery option during second semester will be provided.
How will my PTP assignments be graded?
The grade for each assignment will be either an “S” (satisfactory) or “U” (unsatisfactory). Students MUST complete ALL activities to at least minimum standards to be eligible to earn an “S” for the quarter. If even one activity is missing or was not successfully completed, the student will receive a “U” for the quarter. Until the completed work meets the standard, it will be considered “missing.” In order for students to be eligible to earn an “S” for the semester, all activities must be completed.
What happens if I don’t earn an “S”?
Failure to earn a “satisfactory” grade during grades 9 -11 will jeopardize the student’s ability to earn the .5 required credit for graduation.
What if I transfer to another high school in Hawaii?
Students will still be required to complete a PTP and earn credit since it is a Board of Education graduation requirement.
What if I am a new student to Kapolei High School?
New student transfers to Kapolei High School are responsible for completing all assignments beginning with the quarter in which they entered.
