OFFICIAL SUMMER SCHOOL (CREDIT ACCRUAL) INFO:

Kaimuki High School has been designated an Official Summer School site this year, and will be offering opportunities for students to earn up to 1 credit. All classes will be FULLY ONLINE and ASYNCHRONOUS (SELF-PACED) through our Edginuity Program, and are intended for students that are ON-TRACK for graduation. KHS students will have priority registration from April 15th (8:00 am) through 19th (4:30 pm). The general public registration will be from April 22nd-26th (or until filled). There will be a maximum of 70 slots available for Official Summer School. For course offerings and registration information, please see the link above. KHS students in need of credit recovery will be enrolled in our Summer Learning Hub Credit Recovery Program, and will not be permitted to enroll in Official Summer School.

CREDIT RECOVERY INFO:

We will be offering a Summer Learning Hub for CREDIT RECOVERY (up to 1 credit, 2 credits for summer graduates), based on student's final grades for this school year. If your child is in danger of not passing a required class for graduation (based on their 3rd quarter grades), you will be contacted directly for a parent meeting to discuss your child's progress and potential enrollment in the summer credit recovery program. We will know definitively if your child needs to attend credit recovery on May 31, 2024 (date final grades are posted), and you will be contacted shortly thereafter to confirm your child's enrollment. Credit recovery will be FULLY IN-PERSON, and your child is expected to attend daily. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided daily.

INCOMING 9th GRADE BRIDGE/TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL INFO:

Setting our new students up for a successful high school experience is a top priority for our school. We will be offering a Summer Bridge/Transition Program for our incoming 9th graders to ease transition to high school. Students will learn about our school, their classes, teachers, programs, and be provided instruction on reading and writing strategies. Students will earn 1 credit for attending Summer Bridge. Information has been shared with our feeder schools; however, if you know of a child that could benefit from this program, please feel free to share this information with families. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided daily. For registration information, please see the link above.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE (EL) NEWCOMER PROGRAM INFO:

A specially designed program for students who will be entering the Honolulu District EL Newcomer Program at Kaimuki High School in school year 2024-2025.  The EL Newcomer Program will be an engaging  experience that will provide English Language acquisition instruction and orient our new students to the Kaimuki High School Campus.  Students will have opportunties to participate in sports programs and field trips throughout the summer.

Extended School Year (Special Education ONLY):

If your child currently attends Kaimuki High School and receives Extended School Year (ESY) services through their Individual Education Program (IEP), you will be provided eligibility information in May. ESY will be in-person. Since eligibility dates and times vary by student based on their IEP, your child's start date/time, and end date/time may differ from the Official Summer Program schedule, and you will be provided a letter with eligibility dates and times from the Student Services Coordinator Keevan Matsumoto. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided daily (June 5th - July 7th).
