A lifelong Hawaii resident, Mr. Holtzmann combines a passion for education with a commitment to community. With Sioux heritage, he graduated from Damien Memorial High School and earned a BS in Geology and Geophysics and a PD in Secondary Science Education from UH Manoa. His graduate work in Planetary Geology led to a presentation at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference, where he met Harrison Schmitt.
Dedicated to the Hawaii DOE, Mr. Holtzmann has taught science at Kahuku High and Intermediate, Kalaheo HS, and currently at Pearl City High School. He has also served Kahuku as Testing Coordinator, Registrar, and COVID Response Handler, and rocked out as the bassist for the faculty band "Keep Your Day Job." (Photo to the left)
Prior to teaching, he worked at McDonald's for ten years, becoming a Manager. An accomplished athlete, he excelled in running and ranked 11th in the state in 10k road races. A dedicated blood donor (148+ donations!), he also enjoys golf (two holes-in-one!) and competed on Jeopardy!
Married with a teenage son, Mr. Holtzmann embraces family and community. His favorite quotes are, "Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right" and "None of us is as good as all of us," reflecting his positive, collaborative spirit.
