GUIDELINES
CLASS ENROLLMENT
Please review the list below to see which activities are available to your child, as each class is only open to a specified grade level. For a detailed description of each class, please visit www.tinyurl.com/HES21stCentury. Enrollment for each course is extremely limited - first come, first served. Your child may sign up for a morning activity AND afternoon activity, if you would like, but you are also able to just enroll for afternoon activities, as well. You may also enroll for a M/Th activity and a T/F activity, because they do not overlap.
Once enrolled in a class, the 21st Century teachers will contact families about any class cancellation and rescheduling. Classes will begin/end at a different date. Teachers will notify families when classes will start and where to meet. Please check our website for start dates.
If classes do not get at least 10 students, the class will be canceled, and your second or third choice will be honored. Also, if after the start date not enough students attend regularly, the class may be canceled, and all other regularly attending students may be placed in another class.
ATTENDANCE
This is not a "drop-in" program. Children cannot drop in class whenever they want. If students sign up, they are expected to attend. Attendance is very important for the 21st Century program. If your child is going to miss a 21st Century class, we ask that you please send Dr. Nichols and the 21st Century teacher a message on ClassDojo. Dr. Nichols will be calling the families of each absent student.
If your child misses multiple classes, your child will be dropped from the class to allow another child the opportunity to participate. If you know your child cannot commit to the scheduled days, we ask that you join us at another time.
PICK-UP FOR AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES
We ask that all students who sign up for after school activities to be picked up ON TIME. Students are to be picked up right at the end of of their activity. If you pick up your child(ren) beyond 10 minutes after class has ended, Dr. Nichols or someone at the school will call one of the listed contact persons, and it will be noted as a late pick-up. Any student with THREE (3) late pick-ups will be dropped from the program. No exceptions! Please, remember that the school office closes at 4:00 PM.
Siblings not enrolled in the program cannot stay with siblings in their 21st Century class. Also, siblings not enrolled in the program cannot wait for their siblings in the office. Office staff cannot babysit children. We ask that you sign up for A+ for siblings not in the 21st Century. Otherwise, we will drop your child from the program.
CLASSDOJO
Communication with families will be via ClassDojo. Please be sure you have ClassDojo and have your notifications turned on. As stated, please message the teacher if your child will be missing a 21st Century activity for any reason (ie doctor's appoint, sick and not in school, etc.)
Teachers will be posting and messaging you via ClassDojo, and it is expected that families check it. Teacher post announcements about classes and even if class is cancelled for the day. Teachers will also be messaging you if your child is absent. We want to make sure your child is where they need to be. So, please make sure you check your ClassDojo daily.
