(McGraw-Hill Wonders ) This series is built on the Common Core State Standards. Wonders’ key components are lessons that develop students’ ability to access complex text; find and use text evidence; and engage in collaborative conversations. We will use leveled readers in class, as well as literature anthologies and reading/writing workshop texts to develop reading fluency and comprehension, thinking skills, and a richer vocabulary.
The students will have a variety of experiences with expressing themselves through writing this year in persuasive, informative, and narrative pieces.
The ability to demonstrate the command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage will be integrated in our daily writing, reading, and speaking lessons.
