Enrichment 

You must choose one of the following for each day you are requesting UPLINK Enrichment. It is a first come, first serve basis on when completed applications and registrations are turned in. There is limited space per Enrichment. Most Enrichments with limited space can only be offered to each student one day of the week.


You will be assigned and notified the Enrichment to attend when given a printed Official UPLINK Schedule in Quarter 2 by your Advisory Teacher. 

If your UPLINK application is processed after October 16, 2023, your printed Official UPLINK Schedule will be in your Advisory Teacher’s box within 72 hours of completing the application and registration.

If your printed schedule in Quarter 2 states EMAIL UPLINK, this is due to no space available in your requested Enrichment. 


Basketball - We designed our UPLINK Basketball to positively impact the lives of young basketball players on and off the court. We use basketball to help kids build character, promote good sportsmanship, and develop leadership skills. The students will learn basic shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense techniques. During this time, our coach(es) will work with the young players to develop their individual basketball skills. We follow the USA Basketball Youth Guidelines, ensuring your child learns the game correctly. Additionally, we have competitive contests every day. These include free throws, knockout, scrimmages, and more. Our contests give every player a chance to be successful and have fun simultaneously. We want everyone to work hard, play smart, and have outstanding sportsmanship!



Ceramics  Enrichment - Come have fun learning to create with clay and glaze! It's OK if you're a total beginner, but experience is great, too! (ONLY MONDAY)

CERAMICS  IS FULL. IF YOU HAVE IT AS CHOICE 1 OR 2 YOU WILL BE PLACED ON THE WAITLIST.


Chess Enrichment  - Come learn how to play the game of chess. Experienced players are welcomed back as well as new players!


Culinary - Learn basic skills in cooking and baking. Monday will be one set of students and Friday will be another set of students due to the popularity of this Enrichment. (This enrichment will end at 515p)

Education Enrichment - Learn how to be a fun teacher. Learn engaging activities, arts and crafts, ways to make the classroom fun. (ONLY FRIDAY, you will join the Service Learning Enrichment)


Fiber Art: Knit & Crochet - Students will learn basic crochet stitching, knitting and loom knitting. Basic supplies and materials will be provided, no experience necessary.


Fine Arts - Encompass all forms of arts such as: drawing, painting, music and dancing. (ONLY FRIDAY) Fine Arts is full. If you request it you will be placed on the WAITLIST.


Filipino Culture - learn about Filipino culture through performance, food, and language..  (ONLY MONDAY)


Gardening  - Students will explore the full experience of gardening with vegetables and other plants.  The student will prepare the soil for planting with seeds, slips, vines, etc.  The student will also explore the benefits of some of the plants for medicinal and healing purposes. (ONLY MONDAY)


Gym Experience & Strength Training Enrichment - Experience the benefits of a healthier you through BASIC strength training fitness; using light resistance and controlled movements while using proper and safe techniques as you gain body strength with an easy fitness program. With the use of our school's weight room, experience basic gym equipment and learn proper gym etiquette and safety. (ONLY FRIDAY)





Japanese Enrichment - Welcome to Japan Enrichment, which was inspired by our Nakasatsunai Middle School and Ewa Makai Middle School student exchange program. Temporality, our program to host and visit a student in Japan is placed on hold due to the pandemic. Japan Enrichment is designed to keep our connections strong and current with our sister school. You will learn about Japanese culture, language, and traditions while making a friend from Japan! (NOW AVAILABLE MONDAY and FRIDAY)

If you chose Japanese Enrichment and did not get it on Monday you can do a schedule request change for Friday’s Enrichment.


Jewelry Enrichment - Students will learn basic beading techniques, weaving, knots, and metal-bending. Each class will focus on a different technique or style. Students will learn the history and/or cultural relevance of the techniques and types of jewelry we make. Students will make products that they can wear themselves or give as gifts. Items include: bracelets, anklets, necklaces, hair wraps, barrettes, earrings, etc.


Korean Enrichment - Students will connect with peers from our sister school in Korea (Seonhwa middle school) through virtual meetings, which will be held on most Fridays. On Mondays, they will share stories, passions, and interests related to Korean culture, music, and food. 

League of Legends/eSports - Students will learn leadership, communication, and research skills through the medium of the competitive online game "League of Legends".

 

Math Team - We are looking for students who enjoy math and seek to advance their skills. In math team you will not only get to learn higher math concepts and tricks, you will also get to put what you learned to the test in a series of competitions held throughout the state. Mostly we just want to be able to provide a safe space for all math enthusiasts and have fun!


Media Enrichment - Exploratory Video Production and Media is an opportunity for students to learn more about filmmaking, podcasting, and storytelling. Students will be introduced to new technology such as cameras, podcasting microphones, and Final Cut Pro editing software. If you are interested in learning how to make cool videos, interesting edits, and awesome stories, this is the enrichment for you.




NEW Semester 2 Minecraft Enrichment- Come explore the amazing world of Minecraft, a virtual world where you can build anything in your imagination. In this space, we will work together to solve problems, build community, and develop our creativity. (This if for Quarter 3, Semester 2 Mondays only)



Movies Enrichment - Love movies? Do you just want to end your day with a good film? Come to the cafeteria and experience a theatre setting with some classic movies that are loved by all. Sign up for this enrichment and find out more movie information on the first day of UPLINK. (ONLY FRIDAY)


NEW Semester 2 Paper Art - The art of paper... can you make a sheet, or pieces of paper, into unique artwork! Following basic folding directions, folding crisp/precise edges (origami), or cutting out simple designs on a folded paper (kirigami), can lead to one basic creation of art.  We will also put these unit pieces together to make larger designs, creating something different... some without glue!

We may also explore the colors & types of paper, creating collages, applying ink onto different types of paper, or creating paper mâché. So much to do with PAPER!!!!


Rainbow Tigers - The Ewa Makai Rainbow Tigers welcomes all who believe that the LGBTQ+ community deserve to be safe and treated with dignity. While promoting kindness, tolerance, and a sense of belonging, participants will focus on projects that promote this year's SEL program “Choose Love” (character values are: Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion in Action). Now offered Monday and Friday


Service Learning Enrichment -  Want to give back to our community? Come up with Service Projects for our school and community. (ONLY MONDAY)


Sewing Enrichment - Students will learn to sew various projects on a sewing machine.


Social Studies Enrichment - In the SS Enrichment there will be supported learning and individualized strengths by helping students increase study skill and stay highly motivated. Story Corp will be added to this Enrichment to empower students to tell their story, and to help us believe in each other by illuminating humanity.


Sports Enrichment - If you love being active and trying different sports, this class is for you. We will be playing different sports throughout the school year, building skills and having fun!!


STEM Enrichment - Students will participate in various STEM and Robotics related competitions and opportunities throughout the school year. This Enrichment will end at 515pm on Monday and Friday, if you are in this STEM ENRICHMENT you will be in this ENRICHMENT for both Monday and Friday. (This enrichment will end 515p on Monday and Friday)


Ukulele Ensemble Enrichment - Open to beginners or experts. The Ukulele Ensembles focuses on developing playing technique, reading music, and learning pieces from different genres and cultures.


Volleyball Enrichment - If you are absolutely passionate about volleyball, this UPLINK enrichment is for you! You will learn about the sport and how to play the game throughout the school year both on the court and some days in the classroom by watching how-to videos, drills, and collegiate/professional match replays. A Google Classroom will be created for this enrichment where I will post some of these videos for you to view on your own time. Expect to work hard and push yourself as you will be doing some exercises and conditioning. Every practice starts off with running laps, stretches, and warm-ups. Requirement: t-shirt, athletic shorts/pants, and athletic shoes (at the very least closed-toe shoes) Optional: water bottle, sports drink, knee pads (they may wear-and-tear faster compared to playing in an indoor gym as we will be playing on outdoor tennis courts) *Slippers, crocs, or jeans of any kind are NOT recommended to play in as they are much harder to move athletically in and have a greater chance of resulting in injury. I may ask a student not to participate in certain drills if he or she is wearing the listed footwear. Students should bring with them to school their athletic attire if they choose to wear the identified clothing items during the actual school day hours. They are expected to go to the restroom to change after the school day ends and be ready to play prior to the start time of volleyball enrichment. **Volleyball Enrichment will begin late-October/early-November (pending when the girls high school volleyball playoffs officially ends).**

Yearbook - Learn how to make an award-winning yearbook that records memories and events throughout the year, and tells the stories of the people at our school! (ONLY FRIDAY)
