School Reopening SY 2021-2022:

Creating Effective Learning Environments for Students with Disabilities

The Office of Student Support Services, Exceptional Support Branch, Special Education Section invites you to view the self-paced course, “School Reopening School Year 2021-2022: Creating Effective Learning Environments for Students with Disabilities.” The course provides information on how to address learning loss due to the pandemic through the Hawaii Multi-Tiered System of Supports and high-leverage instructional practices. Additionally, the course provides step-by-step guidance and key considerations for assessment, instruction, and student monitoring to assist educators in accelerating learning for all students when they begin the new school year.

The course consists of the four sessions below, which you can view at your own pace. Each session is approximately 15 minutes.

Session 1: Overview

Provides an introduction to the course, highlighting the importance of Hawaii Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports and high-leverage instructional practices to address learning loss and learning acceleration.

Provides guidance on how to screen and assess students in order to develop and implement appropriate instruction.
