XEP0101 INTEGRATED STEM - Intermediate Drones (Semester 2)
Intermediate Drones is a SECOND semester course open to 7 and 8th grade that focuses on Piloting, Coding, and Application of quadcopters for Recreational (drone competitions, racing, hobby) and Commercial use (various UAV careers). Students will learn FAA knowledge and regulations involving UAV systems (TRUST and beginner Part 107 content knowledge). . Students will learn problem solving, communication, and team work. This course is for students who would like to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to fly, code, and work with a drone. Beginner to Intermediate level drone experience.
XEP0101 INTEGRATED STEM - CTE Drones [Advanced] (Semester 1)
Prior teacher approval will be required to register for this course. This Career Technical Education (CTE) course introduces students to industry use cases, workflow and requirements of operators who work with UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in our Commercial Industries. Students will learn how Commercial Drone Operators plan, prepare and work in the National Airspace System. Students will meet, learn from and work with industry professionals who use UAVs in their careers. The goal of this course is to prepare students with industry relevant skills and knowledge to be successful in an evolving work environment where unmanned technology is becoming both prevalent and efficiently necessary.
Semester Project
Students will “bid” for on campus job requests created by our facilities/security/administration/staff. Students will meet with the client, determine the scope of work and provide a job proposal document along with RFQ (Request For Quote). Students will then use a commercial drone to collect the client requested data, process the information on DroneDeploy and provide the client with the requested product. Successful completion of the workflow process and satisfaction of the client will determine project performance grade.
.TSM0101-Drone M FOUND OF TRANS SERVICES (Semester)
Foundations of Transportation Services is an introductory course designed to inform students about careers in aviation and marine maintenance and basic vessel and machine structures. This Level 1 course serves as the foundation course for the Aviation Maintenance Technology and the Marine Maintenance Technology programs of study. Upon completion of this course, a proficient student will be able to discuss the basic principles governing flight and marine vessels, including their structures and motors, and employ tools safely. A student will also be able to describe various occupations in both fields and outline the steps necessary to advance in specific careers. As part of a student’s program of study progression, the student will create a digital program of study portfolio, providing evidence of mastery of course standards and readiness to advance and complete the program of study.
