A message from us...

Aloha Jet ‘Ohana,

We hope you had a relaxing and fun summer filled with lots of memories. As we start the new school year we are looking forward to working with both students and Ohana of Barbers Point Elementary School. We want to foster a sense of belonging and pride for students at BPES so that they may grow into future leaders, life-long learners, and successful members of the community.

This year we will continue to use Choose Love for our SEL curriculum. The curriculum is composed of 4 components:

  1. Lokomaika'i (Compassion in Action)

  2. Wiwo'ole (Courage)

  3. Huikala (Forgiveness)

  4. Mahalo (Gratitude)

We will continue to promote SHAKAS throughout the school day. SHAKAS are Sincere Heartfelt Appreciation of Kindness and Aloha. Students have the opportunity to earn a SHAKA when they exhibit kind behavior toward both peers and adults.

We will be also adding "Jet Dollars". Students may earn dollars for attending school daily, completing iReady lessons and weekly iReady goals. Students may use these dollars to buy prizes at the end of each quarter.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. We are here for you! We will also be adding more links/resources to help with supporting our SEL curriculum throughout the year.

Please follow BPES on social media for updated information as well as virtual school activities that can help keep YOU connected to school.

With Care,

Mrs. Lowe, Ms. Lehman and Ms. Sunn
